Combining Trimbakeshwar with Shirdi is one of the most popular pilgrimage journeys in western India. Both sit in the same region, and a connected trip works well over two or more days.
Why the two combine well
Trimbakeshwar is home to a Jyotirlinga of Shiva, while Shirdi is associated with Sai Baba. Many travellers wish to visit both on a single journey, and the region makes this natural: driving roughly west-to-east, you can pass from Trimbakeshwar through Nashik to Shirdi over a comfortable two-or-three-day circuit without retracing your route.
How to structure the trip
A common shape: spend your first day in Trimbakeshwar (temple and the Godavari source), overnight, then travel east to Shirdi for the following day. Depending on your pace, you can break the journey in Nashik. Shirdi warrants its own overnight if you want a relaxed visit.
